Hair extensions recommendation - Wildilocks

Some of you may already know that Wildilocks is opening a branch right here in Melbourne. I, for one, was unreasonably excited when I found out and volunteered to be a training model. Today was my appointment and I'm so pleased with the results I decided to share.

So here lies Before and After pics.

This is what my hair looked like before the session:

And this is me after:

A few more here if interested.

I've had hair extensions done in the UK, Singapore, and random salons in Melbourne, and none can match the quality and skills of Wildilocks. There is no discomfort at all, no damage done to hair, easy maintenance, and because the extensions can be re-used about 3 times, it's cost-saving! I think it looks really natural and the hair is really soft.

The service was absolutely fantastic. Cass is amazingly experienced (with incredibly fast hands) and Kat is just gorgeous and professional and they are obviously passionate about what they do. Both are perfectionists and anal, which is something you definitely want in your hair stylists! They made me feel really comfortable and I knew my hair were in the best hands. I'm so pleased to have finally found the salon I trust! Oh and they love cats and crafts, always a plus with me :D

Lockworks opens next Tuesday, 13th November. They are located at Level 1, 382 Little Collins St, Melbourne, entrance on McKillop St.

A++++++++++ WILL TRY AGAIN.

They do look awesome! I know you say that they can be reused, but how long do they last? Do they fall out in clumps? I've never had any experience with extensions, so sorry for the dumb questions. :D

Thanks!

There are many different ways of attaching extensions. I've tried the hot glue method and elastic band method. The first type is really quite shit, it's very lumpy and unnatural and when your hair grows out, the gluey bit just dangles unattractively. The elastic band method lasts ages and blends pretty well, but it is very uncomfortable for the first week and it hurts to put on and take off.

Wildilocks uses this little metal bead to attach the hair. It's completely painless and the bead can be 'unlocked' and reused up to about 3 times before it becomes too loose. So you answer your question about how long they last, once you start getting annoyed with the regrowth you can go back to them to do a touch up. They shouldn't fall out in clumps if done well.

Hopefully Cass or Cat will drop by to answer your question more fully!

Heyya! I'm Nicole, the other stylist at the Lockworks : )

[info]altricial basically explained it all! You can get them re-tightened up to three times which cuts out all that ikky regrowth, which is where problems can arise and they're very easy to remove. A co-worker at a salon I was at had the glue method done on her and it was such high maitenance and a pain to take out.

I like this method of loose extensions better, having worked with the glue/fusion method before. It's much better for your hair, scalp, and wallet ; )

I have a question, though it's probably kinda silly. Do you have to treat your hair differently to take care of them while they're in? I mean, surely you have to be able to wash them, or they would have to be taken out in under a week? And what about brushing your hair - if it's got a mind of its own like mine and needs to be retamed several times a day, how do you do it without loosening the extension connections?

Forgive me if these are absurd things to wonder about, but my hair's been waist-length or longer for most of my life, so I've never had occasion to find out for myself...

Thanks! I had long hair for most my life and went really short about 3 years ago. Started missing long hair again, but such a pain to wash!

It looks awesome! I second the recommendation as I am also excited about Wildilocks coming to Melbourne. Can't wait till they open and I decide what I want done :)

Hahahah,I had the image of someone wearing a KK donut as a hat now. Let's hope the hair extensions are non-edible! You may be chased by seagulls.

Awesome! You have to post pics! Mine is almost full head, they couldn't put many behind because of my undercut. Only the pink is synthetic, the rest are human hair. So soft!

My hair is nearly at bra strap length so I'm hoping just for a bit of extra body and maybe 6inches...I am a bit worried it'll be in better condition than my hair and it'll be really obvious they're fake. Do you need to do much to your own hair to make them blend in every time you wash them or does it just match it in texture etc?

Cass is definitely AMAZING! I have been getting extensions from her for the past 4 years and I would never go elsewhere, plus she doesnt charge an arm and a leg like the mainstream salons, and you can get completely unique hairstyles that just arent available elsewhere :D
